E-mail North Carolina's Governor and U.S. Senators. The U.S. Senate is deciding how to target federal money to rebuild hog factory farms. Tell Governor Hunt, Senator Edwards and Senator Helms NOW to remove hog lagoons from floodplains and wetlands, and to require public assistance be used only on new waste treatment technologies that do not use lagoons.

Talk it Over With Other Concerned Citizens. Use our interactive Discussion Forum to network and post questions and comments about environmental impacts from Hurricane Floyd. The Forum can even notify you electronically by e-mail, if you desire, when anyone posts an answer or response to your question or comment. See what others are saying, and add what you think!

E-mail the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The EPA and USDA are creating a national program to address pollution from factory farms. Their initial plan is a good start, but it stops short of requiring factory farms to adequately control pollution. Speak out and make sure Federal officials know how you feel.
